Terms of Use

Welcome to Áncora. These terms are the agreement between you and MEAS Partners, LLC. By creating an account, tapping "I agree" on any signup screen, or simply opening the app, you accept these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Áncora.

1. Who we are

Áncora is published by MEAS Partners, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company, with mailing address at 131 Continental Dr, Ste 305, Newark, DE 19713, USA. Our contact email is hello@ancoraapp.org and our website is https://ancoraapp.org.

When these terms say "Áncora," "we," "our," or "the app," we mean MEAS Partners, LLC and the service it offers. When they say "you," we mean you as an individual user of Áncora.

2. What Áncora is

Áncora is a Spanish-first Christian devotional mobile app intended for personal use. It includes:

Áncora is not: a pastoral counseling service, a substitute for medical or mental-health care, an emergency service, a church, or a licensed spiritual-advisory service.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Áncora. In some countries (e.g., several EU member states), the minimum legal age to consent to data processing is 16. If you live in one of those countries, you must meet the age required by your local law.

By signing up, you confirm that you meet the minimum age and that the information you provide is true. Only one account per person is permitted. You may not transfer or sell your account.

You may use Áncora as a guest (without an account), but your progress (streak, favorites, journal, prayers, subscription) will not sync across devices and cannot be recovered if you reinstall.

5. User content — Community guidelines

When you write something others can see (primarily community prayer requests and, soon, short prayer replies), you agree to the following rules. These rules are a binding part of these terms.

6. Our moderation

We moderate every community request before generating a share link. Each text is first passed through an AI model (Claude Haiku from Anthropic) that reviews against the rules above. Ambiguous cases are manually reviewed. We respond to any report of objectionable content within 24 hours, consistent with Apple App Review Guideline 1.2.

  2. If two distinct users report the same request, we hide it for everyone while we investigate.
  3. We review and act within 24 hours.

7. Our content

Original devotionals, imagery, the Áncora anchor logo, alternate icons, illustrations, custom typography, and all software are owned by MEAS Partners, LLC or its licensors. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes.

About the Bible translations:

About guest authors: some topical plans are commissioned from named pastors, authors, or Christian leaders. When you consume that content, you see the attribution to the author. Rights to each commissioned plan are licensed to MEAS Partners, LLC for distribution within Áncora. You may not republish that content outside the app without written permission.

8. Subscriptions, free trial, and auto-renewal

Áncora offers free content. Some features are premium.

9. Regional pricing

Prices shown on the subscription screen are configured in App Store Connect per territory. Apple applies local exchange rates and rounding. In some countries we apply regional pricing (PPP — purchasing-power parity) for Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, and other LATAM markets. Applicable taxes (VAT in Spain, IVA in Mexico, etc.) are charged by Apple per your country's regulation and shown before you confirm the purchase.

We may change prices. Price changes affect only future subscription cycles; your current subscription continues at the current price until its next renewal. If your next cycle's price goes up, Apple will ask for your explicit confirmation before renewal.

10. Sharing with third parties (WhatsApp, iMessage, Instagram)

Áncora includes features to share content outside the app:

When you tap any of these buttons, the content leaves Áncora and enters the system of the service you chose (WhatsApp, Apple, Meta, etc.). From that moment:

11. Important disclaimers

Áncora is not medical or mental-health advice. Áncora content does not replace consultation with doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, licensed counselors, lawyers, pastors with clinical training, or any other licensed professional. If you are in a physical or mental-health crisis, seek professional care.

Áncora is not an emergency service. Do not call on Áncora to report emergencies. If you are in danger, call 911 (US), 911 (Mexico), 123 (Colombia), 911 (Argentina), 112 (Spain), or the appropriate local number.

Áncora is not a suicide prevention service. If you or someone you know is thinking about self-harm, call 988 (US, English and Spanish), Línea de la Vida 800-290-0024 (Mexico), or your local crisis service.

Áncora is not a church and does not replace pastoral guidance. When you need spiritual counsel, consult your pastor, priest, spiritual director, or faith community.

Áncora is ecumenical. Our content is written to serve both Catholic and Protestant / Evangelical Christians. If something reads uncomfortably from your tradition, tell us; we revise when the note is fair.

After your account is closed (by you or by us), your private content is deleted per the Privacy Policy. Moderation records are retained anonymized for 180 days for abuse-audit purposes.

13. Governing law and dispute resolution

Governing law: these terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without giving effect to conflict-of-laws principles.

Binding arbitration and class-action waiver. Any dispute between you and MEAS Partners, LLC arising from these terms or your use of Áncora will be resolved through binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, in Wilmington, Delaware or by videoconference. The arbitration will be conducted in English or Spanish at your election. You waive the right to sue in court and to participate in class actions or class arbitrations.

Exceptions. You may bring claims in small-claims court in your jurisdiction if applicable, or before the consumer-protection or data-protection authorities of your country (e.g., PROFECO in Mexico, SIC in Colombia, AEPD in Spain, your state Attorney General in the US).

Opt-out. You may reject this arbitration clause by emailing hello@ancoraapp.org with the subject "Arbitration opt-out" within 30 days of first accepting these terms. Opting out applies to you personally and does not affect the rest of the terms.

Note for users in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Spain, and other countries: local consumer-protection laws may grant you additional rights that these terms cannot reduce. Nothing in this clause waives rights that are non-waivable under your local law. The enforceability of AAA arbitration in your country depends on your jurisdiction; consult a local attorney if you have questions.

14. Trader information and EU point of contact

For the purposes of Article 14a of the EU Consumer Rights Directive (as amended) and Articles 11 and 12 of the EU Digital Services Act (Regulation (EU) 2022/2065):

Áncora hosts a limited community-prayer feature with pre-publication moderation (see section 5); we handle notice-and-action requests within 24 hours as described in section 6. We do not meet the "online platform" user-count thresholds that trigger the additional transparency-reporting obligations in Articles 15, 24, and 42 of the DSA.

15. Consumers in the EU/EEA, UK, and Switzerland

If you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, nothing in these terms — including the arbitration clause and class-action waiver in section 13 — limits, excludes, or overrides any statutory right you have under mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence that cannot be derogated from by agreement. You retain the right to bring proceedings before the courts of your country of residence under the applicable consumer-protection rules, and to lodge complaints with your national consumer-protection authority. Where any provision of these terms conflicts with such a mandatory right, that provision is, to the minimum extent necessary, disapplied as to you.

For EU/UK consumers, the 14-day right of withdrawal under the Consumer Rights Directive and its UK equivalent does not apply to digital content or services that have started to be supplied with your prior express consent and acknowledgement that you lose your withdrawal right once supply begins (Article 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU). By starting to use Áncora or a premium subscription you provide that consent. You can still cancel auto-renewal at any time in iPhone Settings, and any free trial remains free if cancelled before it ends.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do:

  1. We will publish the new version at ancoraapp.org/terms with an effective date.
  2. We will show an in-app notice the next time you open the app.
  3. If changes materially affect your rights or obligations (e.g., a change to the arbitration clause, a price increase, a new subscription category), we will ask for your explicit acceptance before you continue using the app.

Continued use of Áncora after the effective date of updated terms constitutes acceptance.
